How To Register for Online Courses

Proceed to step two if you already have an account. 

Step One: Create a Student Account

Please take a moment to create an account in the student's name if you have not previously done so. Proceed to Step Two if you have created an account previously.

Step Two: Select Online AC Course

Registration and descriptions for courses can be found here. Students are welcome to register for more than one course. Registration link will be available on each course page where students will be directed to the shopping cart. 

Step Three: Verify your Enrollment

Once fees have been paid, please allow 1 to 2 business days for the enrollment to go through. Enrollment verifications can be viewed by logging into your MyExtension account. Enrollment confirmations are not emailed. Students must log into their account to check their registration. Students will have access to their course materials on the course start date.

Optional Online SAT Enrollment

Online SAT test prep will be available for an additional fee of $200. This discounted price is only available for students registered in the AC online courses. To view information on the course details and to register, please click here.

How to Register for Commuter Program

Applications for Summer 2022 will be available December 2021. 

Step One: Create a Student Account

Please take a moment to create an account in the student's name if you have not previously done so. Proceed to Step Two if you have created an account previously.

Step Two: Pay The Application Fee

Academic Connections Program (Courses will close for registration on June 10th, 2022)

You will be directed to the UC San Diego Extension payment gateway to pay the appropriate application fee. 

Please watch this video if you need additional help with paying the application fee and filling out the application.


Step Three: Fill Out and Submit your Application

After payment, you will reach a confirmation page with a link to the application. Please click on the application link.

You will need to fill out the application in its entirety.  You will need to download all the forms needed - teacher recommendation, authorization forms and medical form (as appropriate).  You will also need to obtain and upload your latest "unofficial" transcript and your latest head shot photo. Once you have uploaded all of your filled out and signed documents, you can submit your completed application to the program for review.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be able to save and return to your application until you are ready to submit it with all of the required documents.

Academic Connections Fees

Academic Connections Online Courses

Online courses are $1,500 each.

Academic Connections Commuter

All application fees are non-refundable and due when you submit your application. The tuition balance must be paid in full within 30 days of your acceptance to hold your reservation in the program. Payment plans are available, but must be requested when accepted into the program.

  • San Diego 3 Week Commuter Program 
    • $100 non-refundable application fee
    • TBD tuition, course materials, activities (transportation to and from UC San Diego is not included)

Academic Connections Acceptance

Academic Connections - Online Courses

Students can register for courses automatically. They will not need to wait 3-5 business days as they normally would for the commuter program.

Academic Connections - Commuter Program

Program information will be e-mailed to all students accepted to Academic Connections. Students will be notified within 3-5 days of submitting their applications. The student will receive a Student Handbook that should be reviewed with parents and the last page signed and returned to Academic Connections in a timely manner. 


Academic Connections - Cancellation/Refund Policies

Online Courses Cancellation Policy

Students will have up until July 7th, 2022 to request a cancellation and receive a full refund.

No refunds will be provided after July 7th, 2022.

Commuter Program Cancellation Policy

Cancellation or withdrawal for any reason prior to April 8, 2021 will receive a $2,150 refund.

Cancellation or withdrawal for any reason April 9- June 4, 2021 will receive $1,075 refund

Refunds for cancellation or withdrawal after June 5, 2021 will be issued for serious illness (doctor's certificate is required) or extenuating circumstances only. Tuition is not refunded for students who are dismissed from the program or who leave because of homesickness.

All refund requests must be made in writing to Maysoon Dong, Sr. Program Manager, UCSD Pre-College Programs at: You will receive a confirmation of your request. Refunds will take approximately 4-6 weeks to process. Refunds are issued in the same method of payment (check or charge) of payment to UC San Diego Academic Connections.

Academic Connections International Students - Tuition and Program Fees

International students interested in the online program will only have to pay the online course fee and the optional SAT Test Prep fee. 

Note: The program fees below refer to the residential program only, which has been cancelled for Summer 2022.

  • Application Fee: $200 USD (nonrefundable)
  • Tuition: $6,300 USD (this price includes all tuition and fees, activities, on-campus housing and meals in dormitories with American students and chaperones on all field trips and in residence with the students at all times)
  • International Student Service Fee: $175 USD
  • UC San Diego Extension Medical Insurance: $135 USD
  • SAT Workshop: $100 USD

International Student Application

  • Apply through Academic Connections International.
  • American citizens living in foreign countries apply through the application process as listed above and do not need to apply through Academic Connections International. Domestic Applications fees and Domestic tuition rates apply.
