Susan Moerder

Susan Moerder is the Lead Instructor for UCSD’s Academic Connections Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability program. She served as the Upper School Science Department Chair at Francis Parker School in San Diego for nine years and the Assistant Head of FPS Upper School for six years. Susan came to San Diego over 30 years ago with an M.S. in Marine Science from Iona College in New York, and thirteen previous years of teaching experience in New York and Colorado. During her 40 year tenure as a classroom teacher Susan also served as an ASB Advisor and Yearbook Advisor. Susan has been a workshop facilitator through UCSD Super Computer Center for high school science teachers and middle school students. She also serves on the Advisory Board of CASL (California Association of Student Leaders), working with the student State Board, teaching presentation and leadership skills, and planning and implementing leadership conferences for over two thousand high school and middle school student leaders annually. Susan has also been an instructor for Rotary International, training high school Interact officers and advisors. Susan has been recognized for her excellence in teaching with Stanford University’s Teacher Tribute Award and Parker’s Mulliken Award for Excellence in Teaching. Susan has been involved in UCSD’s Academic Connections Program since 2011 and with her retirement from the classroom in June 2014 she spends her time continuing to develop the CASL Leadership programs and the UCSD Academic Connections Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability program.
